20 Oct 2008: The Mercure Bankside

Part of the global Accor group, this is one hotel that bucks the trend and really does set a new standard of what one should expect in the competitive mid-range hotel market. Staff is friendly and attentive and a real credit to the management in reminding us that hospitality can be warm, generous and unconditional. Rooms are large and bright, spotlessly clean, supremely comfortable and offer every life-saving mod-con today’s traveller has come to expect. The surprise of the hotel however is to be found in their restaurant, The Loft, serving modern eclectic cuisine that is complemented by the hotel’s signature wine list of international ‘Grand Vins’. You’d think that such good food, amazingly fine wine and faultless service would come at a price but you’ll be astounded at how affordable the prices are and what a wonderful dining experience it is. Enjoy your stay.
